The attack occurred around 9:30 am (local time). The driver was driving a rental car. Police have not released any information about the perpetrator of the hit and run.
German police said there were indications the hit-and-run driver had psychological problems. While resisting arrest, the driver injured two police officers, according to German newspaper Bild. He was taken to the hospital.
