Deadpool 3: Sequels to return fan-favorite characters

Two veterans of the “Deadpool” franchise will return for the third installment of the comic book anti-hero: Karan Soni (“Creep 2”) and Leslie Uggams (“Nanny”), who play Dopinder and Blind Al, respectively.

The two were introduced in the first film and became fan favorites, returning for the sequel. Dopinder is a cab driver who befriends Deadpool (Ryan Reynolds) and takes him on missions, while Blind Al shares an apartment with him.

The actors are the first confirmed in ‘Deadpool 3’ who starred in the long-running predecessors with Ryan Reynolds. The only one who, for sure, will not be in the new film of the franchise is TJ Miller (“Silicon Valley”). Playing Weasel in the first two films, the actor was accused of sexual harassment and ended up losing his role in the storyline. Last year, he also feuded with Ryan Reynolds on his social media.

Karan Soni and Leslie Uggams join the announced Hugh Jackman (“One Son”), who plays Wolverine, and Emma Corrin (“The Crown”), who is expected to play the film’s villain.

Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has assured fans that the work will remain “an adult film” R18, as well as the first two films, made by the defunct 20th Century Fox.

The screenplay is by the duo Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, who signed the first feature films, and the direction is entrusted to Shawn Levy, who worked with Ryan Reynolds on “Free Guy: Taking Control” (2021) and “The Adam Project” (2022).

The release is confirmed for November 8, 2024.
