In the preamble, the actor emphasizes how much the community of the series that featured him has changed over time:
“There’s a whole new generation, kids, who now watch episodes of Friends and find them offensive. (…) There were things that were not intentional and that we could think about. We should have thought more. But it wasn’t. The same sensitivity as today.”
It used to be you could joke about being racist and laugh about it. It was funny and taught people to make fun of these racist people. Now it has become impossible.
The actor goes on to say that now, when it comes to humor in Hollywood, one has to be careful: “It’s a bit difficult because you have to be careful, which makes it difficult for comedians. The beauty of comedy is that it makes fun of itself and life.”
Rachel and Ross
“everyone needs a laugh”He concludes: “The world needs humor! We can’t take ourselves too seriously, especially in the United States, which is so divided.”
Does an entire generation of adoring friends deserve to be criticized by a new audience, or is Jennifer Aniston right, defending the humor of the time? Your keyboards!
