This is a quick update! A day after Netflix posted a record number of views for its first weekend, Night Agent is already getting a second season.
It’s one of the fastest upgrade decisions for a platform that typically waits for a 28-day series of performance data before pulling the trigger. The good news was announced directly on Twitter:

“Mission Accepted: Night Agent Season 2. Released in 2024 💥”
“Last week was a whirlwind as we finally got to share Night Agent with the worldsaid series creator Sean Ryan.
“Seeing the tremendous response to the series has been a great joy and a credit to our cast, writers, directors, crew and partners at Sony Pictures Television and Netflix. We couldn’t be prouder or more excited to kick off Season 2 and share the new adventures of Night Action with our new fans.“
Adapted from Matthew Quirk’s novel of the same name, Night Agent was released on March 23 and racked up 168.7 million watch hours in its first few days on the platform. The action thriller ranks third among Netflix original series in first-week viewing across all first seasons.
“We are proud that Night Agent achieved outstanding performance and was instantly accepted worldwide.,” said Netflix’s vice president of drama series, Ginny Howe.
“Sean Ryan has created a sensational spy thriller that audiences can’t live without, with a star-studded cast of Gabriel Basso, Lucian Buchanan and Hong Chow, and we’re here to bring them even more action and suspense than ever before. They love..”
in the interview DeadlineSean Ryan said that the original plan for the series at Netflix.was that each season tells its own largely self-contained story with a beginning, middle, and end, and subsequent seasons include some, but not most, of the characters we saw in the previous season. That was the original plan; I think it’s still a pretty solid plan“.
He wouldn’t say who will return next season other than Gabriel Basso, who opens a new chapter for Peter as a Night Action agent, but he did reveal some questions that will be answered about him when the story goes beyond the book.
The wait for answers to all these questions should be relatively short, as Netflix has already announced a return in 2024!
