Chabelo and La Chilindrina recorded a controversial film together that few remember: did they dislike each other?

Just as María Antonieta de las Nieves had to hide her pregnancy in “El Chavo del 8” and almost no one noticed, there is a production of “La Chilindrina” that has gone unnoticed for years, where she shared the credits with “Chabelo”.

After the unfortunate death of Xavier López “Chabelo” at the age of 88, his film collaboration with María Antonieta de las Nieves resurfaced online and many fans realized that both actors had some on-screen chemistry.

Chabelo and “La Chilindrina” had a film together that few remember

The film project in which Xavier López and María Antonieta de las Nieves coincided as their famous childhood characters is called “La Chilindrina in distress” and was released in 1994.

In the film, the protagonist travels to see her aunt to claim a jewel she has inherited in her town, but loses her grandmother and in her search discovers that a distant uncle of hers who is a somewhat clumsy gangster has stolen the jewel.

The film has a special participation of “Chabelo”, in a scene where “La Chilindrina”, dressed as an altar, passes through the pews of a church to collect the tithe and meets the child praying.

In an amusing interaction between them, “La Chilindrina” asks him for money and “Chabelo” refuses, until after asking him, he makes him admit that he only brings coins, but throws them away and picks them up again, saying that these God catches will it remains.

That’s when she also shows her ingenuity and convinces Xavier López’s character to throw his coins again, only now he manages to collect them in his basket and even takes his paddle, which leaves ‘Chabelo’ crying.

Directed by Juan Antonio de la Riva, the film sparked rumors that the actors did not have a good working relationship and had to put up with their differences and behave professionally.

This was discussed after a broadcast of the program “Bad Night” with Verónica Castro, where they collided and their loud jokes resembled real attacks between actors.

However, in 2008 they ran into each other at a Children’s Day ‘TV Notes’ photo shoot and showed that they are getting along well. Even in December 2015 with the end of “En Familia con Chabelo”, La Chilindrina said that she loved him very much.

The film also features Pedro Romo, Jorge Russeck, Claudia Goytia, Isaura Espinoza, Luis de Icaza, Lorena Velázquez and Lili Inclán.

In addition to the fact that at the beginning of the film Roberto Gómez Bolaños “Chespirito” is thanked for allowing the character of his creation to be used in this special adventure from “El chavo del 8”.
