MacBook Air could win 13.3-inch OLED screen with Samsung-supplied panel; LG Display develops OLED screens for next year’s iPad Pro
While LG Display is responsible for producing new OLED-type panels to power next year’s 11- and 12.9-inch iPad Pros, shortages in production capacity could make the apple turns to Samsung Display to produce the OLED display for the upcoming MacBook Air.
Information described by the South Korea website The Elect reveal that the SAMSUNG is making the OLED panel for Apple’s 13.3-inch MacBook Air, reinforcing theories that the cheapest model of Mac notebook should, in fact, be the first to receive display technology with deep blacks, infinite contrast and color you need even before the MacBook Pro.

Despite the start of production, it is still unclear if the product will be released. Apple has already placed orders with Samsung for the production of 10.9-inch OLED screens for iPad Air, but the high cost and production volume required by Apple have impeded the progress of the OLED panel debut on the company’s tablets .
It will therefore be up to the iPad Pro to inaugurate the OLED display on Apple tablets next year, abandoning the LCD and Mini LED type screens (an advance compared to the LCD, but with lower performance than the OLED) adopted in the current 11 models and 12 .9 inches, respectively.
It’s worth noting that The Elec claims that the next MacBook Air will adopt a 13.3-inch panel. This is the same screen size as the MacBook Air with M1 processor and classic design with no MagSafe connector and no notch at the top of the display, differences found only on MacBook Air with M2 chip and 13.6-inch screen.

With this, Apple has a chance to recycle the look of the 2020 MacBook Air in 2024 by presenting it with an OLED screen and a new M3 chip as the main differentials, as the design would be nothing new.
In addition to MacBook Air and iPad Pro with organic panel for deep blacks and accurate colors, there is also a new generation of MacBook Pro with OLED screen, scheduled for launch in 2024. Like tablets, the model is expected to adopt Pro Motion technology for a frequency of 120 Hz and smoother navigation.
More details regarding Apple’s upcoming OLED products should emerge in the coming months as we get closer to the release dates.
