Prometheus on TF1: Will there be a season 2?

After just three weeks on air, Prometheus will come to an end this Thursday March 30 on TF1 after a grand finale that promises to answer the questions viewers have been asking themselves.

and finally unravel the mystery surrounding the amnesiac young heroine, played by Fantine Hardwin. Who is he ? Where is it from? And where does his power come from? You will understand everything.

However, the plot of the series is not completely closed, as the final moments of this first season leave us on a cliffhanger that inevitably leads to a possible season 2. With new questions, especially regarding the future of the two main characters. series.

Last September, during the press presentation of Prometheus at the La Rochelle TV Fantasy Festival, producer Frank Calderon already hinted that the series was set for several seasons. And not be a mini-series, as it often happens on French television.

“The end of season 1 requires a season 2, very clearly, otherwise the audience will be very disappointed (laughs)”He said at a press conference attended by AlloCiné.

Odile Vuillemin, who portrays Prometheus’ psychologist, told us recently that she hopes with all her heart that the series will be given the right to continue on TF1: “We’re really crossing our fingers. I’d love to find that Marie Clairemont character.”.

But then what? Is the second season already in the works? And will it see the light of day?

Season 2 is being written … but the audience is shrinking

As the screenwriter Solenn Le Priol revealed to us a few days ago in Series Mania, the 2nd season of Prometheus is indeed written. But that doesn’t mean it will be certified by TF1.

The channel, as usual, is waiting for the results of the audience of the three broadcast nights to decide on the future of the fantasy series hosted by Fantain Hardouin, Camille Lou, Thomas Juan, Marie-José Croze and Odile Villemin.

The first two episodes of Prometheus, offered on March 16 on TF1, attracted an average of 3.54 million viewers, representing 21.4% of female purchasing managers under 50 (FRDA-50).

Without Sparks, TF1 led the audience that evening but lost 700,000 viewers between episodes 1 and 2. And the fall continued in Week 2, as last Thursday it averaged just 2.80 million subscribers before Episodes 3 and 4. 4.

TF1 was then overtaken by the broadcast of the TV film Les enfants du secret on France 3. And Prometheus’ market share for the priority target of women under 50 was only 15.3%. Which is well below the 20% threshold required by the channel.

In short, unless there’s a big comeback this Thursday, March 30 during the final two episodes, Prometheus’ chances for a second season seem somewhat compromised. Even if the series showed very good response in reruns, 900,000 viewers won on D+7 for the first night of broadcast.
