Both are presented in the original 151 Pokémon list, which is included in the red and blue versions of the popular video game, Butterfree and Aeromite are also two of the most famous Bug-type Pokémon. Still, these creatures have been shrouded in mystery for many years, and the theory may finally provide an answer to this long-standing unanswered question: Did these two Pokémon accidentally spin?
We know that Butterfree is the evolution of Chrysacier, the evolution of Chenipan itself, one of the first Pokémon to appear in Jade Forest early in the game. If the connection between the first two Pokémon is quite obvious, Butterfree still marks a real cessation with its two previous incarnations, physically resembling neither.
A very similar observation relates to Aeromite, the evolution of the beloved Mimito. So how do we explain that these two Pokémon do not look like the creatures they evolve and, more strangely, that they have a strange resemblance to each of the corresponding major Pokémon?
You know this theory # Pokemon ? Originally, Butterfree was supposed to be the evolution of Mimitos, while Chrysacier was to be developed in Aeromite! pic.twitter.com/wzYxtveOmz

If no official answer to this mystery has yet been provided, many Internet users have come up with the theory of simple human error. A mistake made by game developers may simply explain that Butterfree and Aeromite were changed during the design of Pokédex; By swapping the locations of the two Pokémon, the evolution of Chrysackier and Mimitos really seems much more consistent!
