HBO plans a new ‘Game of Thrones’ prequel about Aegon I Targaryen, the Conqueror

The new project could start with a film that will reveal the conquest of Westeros and the creation of the Iron Throne

HBO might be interested in exploring Aegon I Targaryen’s conquest of Westeros in a new prequel series from ‘Game of Thrones’ and ‘The House of the Dragon’, or even in a movie.

Various sources have leaked to Variety that the Aegon the Conqueror prequel is still in a very early stage of development and that there is no writer attached to the project yet. Another source has claimed that the project could include a film leading up to the events of the series.

taking place three hundred years before the events of ‘Game of Thrones’ (and one hundred years before ‘The House of the Dragon’), the potential prequel would tell the story of how Aegon and his sister-wives, Visenya and Rhaenys, used their army and their three dragons to conquer six of the seven kingdoms of Westeros (The exception was Dorne). In doing so, Aegon was given the title of Aegon the Conqueror and ruled Westeros for the rest of his life. He used Balerion’s flames to melt the swords of his enemies on the Iron Thronebeing the first to sit on it.

This project is just one more in the long list of ‘Game of Thrones’ spin-offs that HBO launched after the end of the series. Initially, the first of them was going to be ‘Bloodmoon’, whose pilot starring Naomi Watts was filmed and canceled without ever seeing the light. Its place was taken by ‘The House of the Dragon’, which broke all records in its premiere on HBO and has already been renewed for a second season.

We have also been following the news of the Jon Snow spin-offthe first series that will really be a sequel to ‘Game of Thrones’, since It will continue with the events that occurred in the series and will not focus on the past or the history of its characters.. The original idea for the show, as George RR Martin has admitted, came from Kit Harington himself and his creative team. “Yeah, it was Kit Harington who brought us the idea,” Martin said. “I can’t tell you the names of the writers/showrunners, as they haven’t been cleared yet, but Kit brought them in as well, and they’re fantastic.”

Other spin-off series in development about the ‘Game of Thrones’ universe will focus on Lord Corlys Velaryon, the Sea Serpent, or in the founder of Dorne, Princess Nymeria.
