Apple TV+ has released the first photos of “The Crowded Room,” a series starring Tom Holland (“Spider-Man: No Return Home”) and Amanda Seyfried (“The Dropout”).
The new series created by Akiva Goldsman (Academy Award-winning screenwriter of “A Beautiful Mind”) is an anthology format and will explore true and inspiring stories of people coping with mental illness.
The first season is based on the case of Billy Milligan, who was the first person to be acquitted of a crime due to multiple personality disorder (now called dissociative identity disorder), although the names and other details have been changed.
The plot follows Danny Sullivan (Holland), a man who is arrested following his involvement in a shooting in New York City in 1979. elements of the mysterious past that shaped Sullivan and the twists and turns that changed his life.
The cast also includes Emmy Rossum (“Shameless”), Sasha Lane (“Loki”), Will Chase (“Dopesick”), Lior Raz (“Fauda”), Henry Zaga (“After the Universe”) and Thomas Sadoski (” Brothers of Honor”).
In addition to starring, Holland is one of the producers of the attraction, through his company EMJAG Productions, along with Goldsman, the production company New Regency and the newborn studio Apple – which, like its competitors, has decided to take a share of participation in your original content
The premiere is scheduled for June 9.
