Todd Phillips is done jester– turn around. At least from a production point of view: the director celebrated the end of filming on the sequel. Joker: madness for two with an Instagram post featuring stars Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga.
With Phillips now in the editing “cavern” (as he describes it), speculation could really be starting to grow as to what this sequel to the Oscar-winning original is really about.
We know it will be partly set in Arkham Asylum (where the aspiring Phoenix comedian turned psycho clown ended up at the end of the original) and will contain a large musical element. Oh, and we’re long past the point of wondering if Gaga will play Harley Quinn (traditionally the Joker’s true love/victim). We’re all more intrigued to know what effect Phillips has had on her and her dynamic.
With a screenplay by director and co-writer Scott Silver, the cast includes Zazie Beetz (who returns as Sophie Dumond from the first film), Brendan Gleeson, Catherine Keener and Jacob Lofland.
Joker: madness for two It will hit theaters on October 4 next year.
