Star Wars: The Matrix stars and tons of Jedi in the most exciting series yet to come!

After The Mandalorian, Star Wars fans will be treated to other Disney+ series that usually focus on the universe’s iconic characters. Thus, they were able to discover Boba Fett’s book, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and soon Ahsoka.

But there’s a Star Wars series in development that promises to be the next big sensation in the galaxy: Acolyte. This time, Disney and Lucasfilm will tell a never-before-seen story for the new characters, which will take place in modern times, namely at the end of the era of the High Republic, about two centuries before the events of the film’s star. Wars: The Phantom Menace.

Helmed by director Leslie Headland (Russian Doll), who serves as showrunner, The Acolyte follows the adventures of a former Padawan who finds his Jedi master to investigate a series of crimes. He discovers that the forces they face are stronger than expected as dark secrets cloud the galaxy and many dark side forces emerge…

In terms of casting, The Acolyte boasts of having on board Lee Jung-jae, the Korean star who had international success with Squid Game, Amanla Stenberg, who appeared in The Hate U Give, Jodie Turner-Smith, who recently Appeared in White Noise and Murder. Mystery 2, but also Manny Jacinto (The Good Place) and Dafne Keen (Logan), but also Carrie-Anne Moss (Maxtrix), whose participation has been revealed!

While celebrating Star Wars, the showrunner explained that he was inspired by the Samurai films and the films of Akira Kurosawa. We can attest to that, as we’re one of the lucky ones to have discovered the first preview images of The Acolyte.

Fans will be treated to thrillers and a good dose of lightsaber combat thanks to the wide variety of Jedi in this period of the Star Wars universe. For the anecdote, the showrunner presented the series as a mix between “The Snow Queen” and “Kill Bill Kathleen Kennedy”.

Leslie Headland promised fans “a ton of Jedi” in the series and introduced a new character to the scene: Jedi Master Wookiee! The latter is played by Joonas Suotamo, the actor who plays Chewbacca in the Star Wars postlogy and spin-off Solo: A Star Wars Story.

After all, fans won’t have to wait long to discover The Acolyte, the series will be available starting in 2024 on Disney+!
