With everything that’s happened in the Marvel Cinematic Universe since 2017, it’s easy to forget that it’s been six years since the last major release of Guardians of the Galaxy. Sure, we’ve seen them ever since infinite war AND Game over – but the last time the gang got together for their own film, the new threat to the MCU was Dr. Strange’s glass-eyed nemesis Kaecilius. That is until we speak. We have now reached Marvel’s swan song of James Gunn, and a lot has changed in the real world as well.

“This third film is much, much more emotional,” says Gunn. Empire our exclusive guardians of the galaxy vol. 3 he asks, reflecting on the cast tearfully reuniting on stage at Comic-Con in 2022. And that emotion comes not just from the film itself, but from the personal journeys of everyone involved in its making. “We have this other story, of this group of people who made each other’s careers at the same time.” Gunn said. “We have grown together in this direction. None of us were big stars when it started. Zoe [Saldaña] He was the biggest.
