Cult director David Lynch gave an interview to the French magazine Cahiers du Cinema. In a conversation with reporters, the cinematographer shared his attitude to Quentin Tarantino’s sensational film Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. The tape was released in August 2019. The article drew the attention of the publication NME. In an interview, Lynch praised the work of a colleague.

Tarantino’s film shows that any events in real life could well have happened in any way. It’s a damn good revenge film, done in a very nice style,” Lynch said.

Once Upon a Time in Hollywood is set in 1969 Los Angeles, where former TV Western star Rick Dalton and his stunt double Cliff Booth struggle to find their place in the rapidly changing world of the film industry. The plot is intertwined with the real story of the Charles Manson sect and the murder of Sharon Tate, but deliberately departs from real events and shows them a fictional, alternative version. The director noted that he dedicates the film to the era and considers Hollywood itself to be the main character of the film.

Starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Brad Pitt and Margot Robbie. The film also stars Kurt Russell, Michael Madsen, Emile Hirsch, Margaret Qualley, Timothy Olyphant, Austin Butler, Dakota Fanning, Bruce Dern and Al Pacino. The Hollywood Reporter called the film “Tarantino’s love letter to ’60s Hollywood” and praised the cast.

David Lynch himself has not pleased fans with new works for a long time. His last feature film, Inland Empire, was released in 2006. Since then, Lynch has directed only a handful of shorts and the long-awaited third season of his series Twin Peaks. Rumors circulated last April that Lynch would present a new film at the then upcoming Cannes Film Festival. The rumors turned out to be just rumors.

Hugh Grant previously guested on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. In the new issue, the famous actor talked about the changes on the set. According to the star, people on the set are not as close as they used to be due to mobile phones. Grant revealed that Tarantino bans phones on set, which he thinks is absolutely right.
