The new spin-off of ‘Game of Thrones’ will be based on the series of three novels by George RR Martin ‘The Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: Tales of Dunk and Egg’
Warner Discovery took advantage of the launch of its “new” streaming platform, Max (still HBO Max), to announce the next spin-off of ‘Game of Thrones after ‘The House of Dragon’: ‘A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight’, based on George RR Martin’s series of three short novels ‘Tales of Dunk and Egg’.
‘The Knight of the Seven Kingdoms’, which will have Martin himself as the series’ scriptwriter, thus becomes the third official project derived from ‘Game of Thrones’ after the trigger of ‘Bloodmoon’ and the huge success of ‘The House of the Dragon’, although there are still several more spin-offs underway such as the sequel centered on Jon Snow.
The book series ‘The Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: Tales of Dunk and Egg’ consists of three novels written by George RR Martin that develop 90 years before the events of ‘Game of Thrones’ and 70 years after ‘The House of the Dragon’. These stories follow Ser Duncan the Tall (also known as “Dunk”) and a young man Aegon V Targaryen (aka “Egg”) during his first adventures.
So far, the series includes ‘The Errant Knight’ from 1998, ‘The Loyal Sword’ from 2003 and ‘The Mysterious Knight’ from 2010but Martin has indicated that he is interested in continuing with new stories in the future.
While ‘The House of the Dragon’ and ‘Game of Thrones’ recount the most transcendental wars in the history of Westeros, ‘The Knight of the Seven Kingdoms’ takes place during a time of relative peace. The new series is expected to focus mainly on the friendship between Dunk and Egg, as well as the journeys and adventures of the knights in the kingdom.
