Perego di Cremnago is in Rio for a defense and security fair
From Leonardo’s M-346 aeronautical platform to the Logistic Support Ship (LSS), a vessel produced by Fincantieri, Brazil has expressed its intention to expand its collaboration with Italy. This is what emerged from a meeting between the Undersecretary of Defense of Italy, Matteo Perego di Cremnago, and the Minister of Defense of Brazil, José Múcio, on the sidelines of the LAAD Defense & Security, which is taking place in Rio de Janeiro.
“With Minister Múcio we discussed the mutual desire to consolidate our partnership, also with the production of some assets in Brazil”, explained the undersecretary to ANSA.
From “security born in the 80s with the winning collaboration” on the AMX attack aircraft to the more recent one on the armored car destroyer of the Leonardo-Iveco consortium, Centauro 2, on which there is “a potential margin for new growth ” , also the Guarani armored vehicle produced in Brazil, in a contract for over 1,500 units, the Brazilian minister confirmed the “strong interest in a 360-degree collaboration”, underlined the undersecretary.
A demonstration that is not limited to the land defense vehicle sector, but reaches the aeronautics, in particular, with Leonardo’s M-346 platform for pilot training, with pilot training at the IFTS schools of Galatina and Decimomannu. And, in the naval field, there is strong interest in Fincantieri’s logistic support tankers, which allow for dual use even in the event of natural disasters.
And given the transfer of Italian technology for the production of Centauro 2 and Guarani, concludes Perego, “Brazil can also become a partner that exports to the rest of Latin America”. .
