Flamengo: in leaked audio, Jorge Jesus reveals a chat with Braz and denies having asked for ‘a lot of money’

First option on the AC Milan draw following the departure of Vítor Pereira, the coach has a contract with the Turkish club until May this year

In a leaked audio that blasted the internet this Wednesday, Coach Jorge Jesus reveals he has spoken to Marcos Braz, Flamengo’s football vice-president, and denies asking for “a lot of money” to settle the deal with the club. In the message, the Portuguese, who has a contract with Fenerbahçe from Turkey until May this year, also confirms that he has asked for more time before making a commitment with Rubro-Negro. OR THROW AWAY! found that the speech was actually delivered by the Portuguese coach and below is the transcript of the audio.

– Good morning my friend. Here in Turkey it is 10 am, there in Brazil the time difference is 6 hours. Yesterday I talked to Marcos Braz about several things, but I never talked about financial conditions. I don’t know why in Brazil they say I asked for a lot of money and they didn’t agree with me. I don’t know what the intention is, but the truth is Marcos Braz told me about Flamengo, he asked me if I could leave now (from Fenerbahçe) revealed.

– I said I couldn’t leave now, I had to give myself some time, even to talk here with the president. 1 and a half months left to finish the championship here in Türkiye. He (Braz) told me that he was going to put in an interim manager, and I said: ‘So, ok, you could wait for me’. He said he couldn’t wait for me long, a week at the most. Alright then. I don’t want people to think that if I didn’t return to Flamengo it was for financial reasons. I haven’t even talked to Marcos Braz (about money) and people are already saying that I asked for “worlds and bottoms” – concluded Jesus.

Flamengo returned to the market to seek a coach after announcing the sacking of Vítor Pereira on Tuesday. Under pressure after disappointing results in the Supercopa do Brasil, Club World Cup and Recopa Sudamericana, the coach couldn’t resist the blow he suffered against Fluminense in the final of the Carioca Championship.

Jorge Jesus signed with Flamengo in June 2019 and remained in charge for just over a year. For the club he won Libertadores and Brasileirão, in 2019, and Supercopa, Recopa Sul-Americana and Carioca, in 2020. His last match was against Fluminense in the State decision.

Still without a new coach defined, Rubro-Negro is preparing to face Maringá this Thursday, at 20 (Brasilia time), for the Copa do Brasil.
