Presidents have signed 15 trade agreements in Beijing
The president of China, Xi Jinping, received his Brazilian counterpart, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, in Beijing this Friday (14), and the two leaders discussed issues related to world geopolitics and economic issues.
The meeting was also attended by the president of the Chinese People’s Congress, Zhao Leji.
Speaking to journalists, Lula highlighted that Brazil “wants to raise the level of strategic partnership between countries, expand trade flows and, together with China, balance geopolitics”.
The representative also said that the visit also wants to “show the world” that the Brazilian government “has no bias in its relations with the Chinese” and that “no one will ban” the country from having relations with China, which is the most major trading partner nationwide since 2009.
According to Chinese media, the two leaders still agree on the fact that “peace in Ukraine” can only come “through the path of dialogue”. However, it is not clear whether Lula backed the Chinese plan unveiled in February or whether Xi pledged to support Brazilian peace initiatives.
In addition to the formal meeting between the two presidents, 15 trade agreements were signed in the fields of agriculture, finance, industrial cooperation, communications and media, science and technology. .
