Beverly Hills: Shannen Doherty fired from series … because of her hair?

The main figure of the cult series Beverly Hills, American actress Shannen Doherty was fired from the show at the end of the 4th season. What would hasten its downfall? Story… hair!

In a 2010 interview at TeenDramaWhoreWriter and producer Larry Molin reveals that Shannen Doherty’s ouster was undoubtedly her new haircut, which no one told anyone about, midway through filming the final episode of the season. A capillary change that would drive manufacturers mad with rage.

“I think they were ready to go on with Shannon, but basically what happened was she cut her hair in the middle of the episode and it completely blew us away. The continuity level of the action. So everyone was mad at her.”– says Larry Molin.

“Actually, it wasn’t the screenwriters who got angry with him, but the producers”– adds the American. “And the other stars of the show yelled at him because he pissed them all off. They went to see Aaron Spelling (Series creator and father of Tori Spelling, translator for Donna, editor’s note) to tell him he had to go.”

If Shannen Doherty’s set didn’t already reek of sanctity, her mid-episode change in look would be the straw that broke the camel’s back and led to her firing. However, Larry Molin has great memories of working with the actor.

“His departure was kind of sad. We wanted him to work with us.”he says. “The writers loved Shannon. He’s a show business guy. You give him a script and he’ll read it exactly like you wrote it. He doesn’t change a word, he never asks a question. He’s a man with a photographic memory.”
