Starting Friday, April 14, 2023, users of the Amazon Prime Video platform can discover Season 1 of Salade Grecque, the sequel to Cédric Klapisch’s film trilogy The Spanish Inn, Russian Dolls and Chinese Puzzle.

Divided into eight episodes, this lively fiction is an ode to modern youth. It is hosted by Alyocha Schneider and Megan Northam, who play the main roles in this project (and who answered our questions in an interview). The actors will indeed portray Tom and Mia, the children of Xavier (Romain Duris) and Wendy (Kelly Reilly), the protagonists of the saga on the big screen.
To the delight of fans, the latter (as well as Cécile de France or even Kevin Bishop) bring old characters to life… Besides, should you have seen Klapisch’s feature films before watching Salade Grecque?
The answer is no! The characters featured here are Tom, Mia and all their friends. Romain Duris, Kelly Reilly, and other “veterans” from the three films make only a handful of appearances throughout this season… because it’s definitely a new chapter that’s unfolding!
From “Spanish Hotel” to “Greek Salad”
From the very first episode, Tom gives the audience a hint of where his family ties stand… so he reiterates that he and Mia were born in Paris and raised with parents Wendy and Xavier. Unfortunately, they broke up and Wendy went to live in New York, where Xavier also went to stay with his children.
As a teenager, Tom returned to Paris with his father, while Mia remained in the US. After The Bachelor, Tom is back in New York… and Mia is back in Paris with Xavier after her argument with Wendy! Today, in the United States, Tom is 26 years old and wants to start his own company. Mia, 22 years old, is in Greece, presumably for Erasmus… are you still following me?
At the beginning of Salade Grecque, Tom and Mia inherit a building in Athens after their grandfather’s death. Tom joins his sister in Greece to manage the family legacy, but he realizes that Mia has actually become a rebel activist who is lying to her loved ones!
