Coca-Cola intends to launch Lemon-Dou, the first alcoholic drink in the company’s portfolio. After the success in Japan, launched in 2018, the product arrives on the market to be part of the “ready-to-drink alcoholic beverages” category.

Lemon-Dou comes to the country with three options: the sweet and mellow “Honey Lemon”, the original rich and refreshing “Signature Lemon” and the strong and spicy “Salty Lemon”, with 3%, 5% and 7% respectively of alcohol content. All three options are prepared in Brazil on vodka and do not contain any kind of preservatives in their composition.

“The launch of Lemon-Dou further strengthens our portfolio of ready-to-drink alcohol products,” said Mariana Branco, leader of ready-to-drink alcohol products at The Coca-Cola Company. “We are very excited to be able to offer the Brazilian market a product thought out and designed down to the smallest detail.”

With the launch in Brazil, Lemon-Dou continues its global expansion in 2023, when it began its commercialization in Latin America through Mexico later this year.

The original recipe is inspired by a typical Japanese drink created in 1895 in the Izakayas (typical Japanese bars) called Chu-Hai, in which a premix of distilled alcohol was made with Shochu (typical Japanese distillate), passing through infusion with lemon extracted from the fruits whole for maximum flavor. In the 2000s, this drink became popular and became a consumption fever in the country, gaining variations with other alcoholic bases and ingredients.

All versions of Lemon-Dou will be available from April onwards, in the main markets of São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Minas Gerais, Salvador and Paraná.
