What is it about?
“The seaside resort of Dinard is rolling out the red carpet for the British Film Festival when the body of a young English director is found floating between two bodies of water. The man did not drown, he was killed. Years earlier, he had already been the victim of a tragic shipwreck in which his teenage sister had died. Are these two tragedies connected?“

Is it worth checking out?
Do you know what soil swelling is? For those unfamiliar with the language of the sea, it is a series of very strong waves that, when they hit, can drown swimmers, sink ships or even destroy shores.
From the first minute of Lame de fond, the audience turns back to see a group of teenagers on a ship at sea, not far from the dinar. Alas, the walk turns tragic… due to the swelling of the ground. One of them loses his life because of this uncontrolled water.
Now, the victim’s brother thinks he’s discovered something about this once-disappeared…but a new tragedy unfolds. The two deaths of Ellis, a lonely police captain from the country, will be connected through his sister and some well-buried secrets.
This is actress Pauline Bresson (who entrusted AlloCiné with this project) as Alice. After seven years in the skin of Emma in Plus belle la vie, we are glad to find here a young actress who finally plays a real grown-up role. And it works very well! Our hero, introverted and persistent, is actually quite intriguing…
In this TV movie, Pauline Bresson shares the poster with Eleanor Bernheim and Antoine Hamel, in particular. The former is the star of The Art Crime and the latter is involved in The Trainee. It’s a treat for the audience to discover them in a different register of Grunt Lam.
The investigation described in this beautiful Breton setting is interesting. Unfortunately, we regret that the dramatic aspect of the story (the whys and wherefores of these deaths) takes over the plot. We have a feeling that the investigation takes a back seat when the hidden truth of the past is revealed…
The pace of fiction is slow at times, we’d like to see a little more pep and a touch of craziness on screen. Finally, the romance that pops up throughout Groundswell has a very predictable conclusion… and doesn’t add up to much in the end.
Despite all this, the unit is quite enjoyable to follow thanks to its performers who offer performances that are different from the usual. Fans of France Télévisions detective films will definitely appreciate it.
