Skin 2022: Men, a shocking and visionary experience by the director of Ex Machina

Presented this week at the Quinzaine des Réalisateurs, “Men” marks Alex Garland’s great return to cinema, four years after “Destruction.” New Tour de Force for filmmaker.

After Ex Machina and Annihilation, Alex Garland returns with a new radical and controllable proposition that follows the physical and psychological path of a heroin cross in distress. In men, it is Jesse Buckley who plays a woman who has gone to isolated rural England to rebuild herself after a personal tragedy.

When she realizes that a strange presence in this quiet village haunts her, the young woman realizes that her violent memories and her most terrifying fears will reappear and turn a time of peace and resilience into a real nightmare.

Alex Garland once again offers a shocking and imaginative cinematic experience, between body horrors and psychological drama, to explore the relationship between violence between a woman and a man by summoning horror and fantasy symbols, metaphors and legends.

In addition to his work and very graphic re-imagining and physical and mental reproduction, the filmmaker allows Jesse Buckley, if necessary, to show the full extent of his talent and Rory Kinear to present a crazy palette of masculine representations. Added to this is the always inspiring and engaging staging, on an electrified soundtrack, Men Is a new tour for Alex Garland.

At the cinema on June 8th
