No more chasing historical treasures. If you are a fan of the series spin-off from Nicolas Cage movies, we have bad news for you. Disney+ has canceled ‘The Search: Beyond History’, after one season on the platformas reported Variety.
Born out of the ‘The Search’ film franchise, the serial adaptation followed the adventures of Jess Venezuela. With the help of her friends, the young woman embarks on an adventure to recover a centuries-old treasure that may hold an ancient connection to her father.
Starring Lisette Olivera, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Zuri Reed, Antonio Cipriano, Jordan Rodrigues, Jake Austin Walker and Lyndon Smith, the series premiered its first batch of episodes last February.
In the first season finale, we were witnessing an unexpected turn of events when the FBI agent played by Armando Riesco, Mr. Hendricks, whom we met in the two Cage movies, revealed his true identity and revealed to be Salazar, a hidden magician who has been sabotaging Billie’s (Zeta-Jones) plans from the very beginning.
Apparently, this season closing and the audience data have not ended up convincing the platform of streaming, which has decided to end production and send it to the long list of cancellations this year. In it we can find other titles such as: ‘Willow’, also from Disney+, ‘1899’, one of the 2022 Netflix series or the spin-off of ‘On my block’, ‘Freeridge’, which has also reached its end after a single season.
The creators of the fiction, Marianne and Cormac Wibberley, are also responsible for the two films in the franchise.
After its cancellation, it seems that the universe created by the Wibberleys has closed its doors. However, despite the results of the series, Cage’s tapes continue to remain in the collective imagination and maintain the charm of the early days.
Among its cast, we can find interpreters like Ed Harris, Justin Bartha, Diane Kruger, Harvey Keitel, Jon Voight or Sean Bean accompanying Cage.
We will miss the exciting hieroglyphics, the frenzied races and the unforgettable historical secrets that their characters were reeling off throughout the tapes. Nevertheless, If what you want is to continue enjoying them, you can watch them over and over again thanks to the Disney+ movie catalog. Do you know which one is your favourite? Are you more of a fan of the movies or the series?
