If your wish the last time you saw a star was for Disney Animation to release a new animated film about a star’s wish, then we have good news for you. They’re doing just that, with the new, literally titled Desire, a new musical with original songs and a new pictorial and tactile animation style. The trailer just came out, check it out below.
Desire follows young Asha, voiced by Academy Award-winning actress Ariana DeBose, who lives in a fantasy land called Roses. Rosas is the “kingdom of wishes,” ruled by Chris Pine’s Magnificent King, to which people flock to tell him their deepest wishes in the hope that he will grant them. One day, Asha makes a wish so powerful that the star she grants it to comes to life. Together, she, Star, and their new goatee Valentino (voiced by Alan Tudyk) join forces to face the Magnificent King and attempt to protect the people of Rosas. It’s a sweet premise and a solid cast, with some great talent behind the camera as well, including directors Chris Buck (Frozen) and Fauve Veerasunthorn (Raya and the last dragon).
Desire will hit theaters in November 2023.
