Exports to Mercosur increased by 28% in March
In March, Italy recorded a surplus of 8.455 billion euros in trade with non-European Union countries, the highest figure for over 30 years, according to preliminary data released this Tuesday (2) by the National Institute of statistics (Istat).
According to the institute, in March exports to non-EU countries increased by 6.6%, while imports decreased by 28.1%, again in relation to the same month last year.
Compared to February 2023, exports outside the EU decreased by 4.6% and imports decreased by 12.9%.
The surplus of 8.455 billion euros rises to 13.78 billion excluding energy goods.
With the 27 countries of the European Union, Italy recorded a trade deficit of 793 million euros in March.
According to Istat, Italian exports to Mercosur countries increased in the period by 28% compared to the same month in 2022, but destinations such as China (+26.3%), Turkey (+25.4%) and the United States (+9.3%) ) also recorded significant increases.
