Case that happened in Campinas, in 1996, while he was still in command of Palmeiras; coach was sued,
A few hours after the relaunch for Corinthians, coach Vanderlei Luxembourg he has in his past a sex scandal allegation. In 1996, the coach was accused of sexual harassment by a manicurist Claudia Cavalcante. This Tuesday, after 27 years, the professional spoke publicly again, in an interview with Cnn. “I’m in this situation because of him,” she says. The coach was acquitted by the Brazilian courts two years later in 1998.
Luxemburgo, then at Palmeiras, would have tried to abuse the manicure at the Vila Rica hotel, in Campinas, before his team’s match against Rio Branco, in Americana. According to the manicurist’s version, she visited Luxemburg in her room, where the coach was wrapped only in a towel.
“It’s hard to talk about it. Right at the first moment, (He) he slammed the door and the rest can’t be said… He had it all. He just didn’t penetrate. And me against the wall,” said the professional. He is 60 today, while the coach is on his third spell at Corinthians at 70.
The justice accepted the charge of indecent violent assault, but ended up acquitting the technician in November 1997. In October 1998 the sentence was confirmed which acquitted him. Defensively, the manicurist says he only had one lawyer at his disposal, while the coach had a corps of four professionals.
Luxemburgo moved to Corinthians in 1998, after winning with Palmeiras. At the time the trial took place, the coach had just commanded the Alviverde team and had spent a short spell at Santos. In the same year, after winning the Brasileirão title with Corinthians, he was invited by the CBF to lead the Brazilian national team. He remained in charge for just one year and won the 1999 Copa América.
