The Central Bank informed on Tuesday that the administrative director of autarky, Carolina Barros, will not attend the meeting of the Monetary Policy Committee (Copom) this week due to the death of a family member.
With that, the decision on the interest will be made with seven votes, by the president Roberto Campos Neto and the rest of the board, which currently has seven names, including Barros.
The prevailing market expectation is that Copom will keep the Selic rate at 13.75%, in a decision to be announced on Wednesday.
The government has yet to appoint a person to the monetary policy board following the departure of economist Bruno Serra at the end of March with the end of his mandate. Director Diogo Guillen, of Economic Policy, is temporarily accumulating both functions.
