Ana Clara reveals the diagnosis of panic syndrome; know how to deal

The illness is one of the types of anxiety disorder and can be controlled with specialized professional follow-up

Presenter Ana Clara is another celebrity facing mental health issues. Ana was diagnosed with panic disorder in late 2022, she told Patrícia Kogut’s column in O Globo newspaper.

“I spent time in the hospital the day I had symptoms. [Apesar da alta médica] The symptoms were not overcome at the time. I was diagnosed with very high anxiety. I started doing treatment for this panic problem. I’m much better now,” she said.

For her, this happened because of everything she had to manage at the same time. The presenter did not detail what she was going through, but, in the professional field, her life is still full of commitments. Ana has presented, until the last week, the “Rede BBB”, has recorded passages and frames for the 23rd edition of the program in its more than three months of airing, and has also commanded the “Túnel do Amor”.

The second season of Globoplay’s relational reality is the first to be presented by the young woman, who succeeds Marcos Mion. The premiere took place on the 26th.

How to deal with panic disorder at work?

Panic syndrome or disorder (PD) is one of the types of anxiety disorder. The problem is distinguished by the occurrence of sudden and intense episodes of fear, malaise and even physical discomfort.

The Ministry of Health explains how the syndrome manifests itself in the individual’s body: during the disturbance, a sort of cerebral alarm sets off adrenaline in the brain, the hormone responsible for preparing the body to act in the face of danger, but without that there is is any risky situation. With that comes the feeling of fear and unease.

The individual in the midst of a crisis may experience shortness of breath, pressure or pain in the chest, rapid heartbeat, cold sweat, tremors, or fear of dying, among other symptoms.

In addition to the signs, the causes are also diverse, from situations of extreme stress to traumatic episodes. In a previous interview with Terra, psychiatrist Jaqueline Bifano highlighted the multifactorial and complex nature of the problem, which therefore also requires a multidisciplinary treatment.

For her, one of the measures indicated in the treatment of this disorder is the regular practice of physical activities “together with an individualized treatment strategy and accompanied by a duly trained professional – psychiatrist and psychologist”.

Julia Trindade, also a psychiatrist, with a master’s degree in behavioral neuroscience, also emphasizes the importance of the reward scheme, in which the individual sets tasks and goals to maintain and create new stimuli.

Conventional treatment involves frequent follow-up with a psychologist and psychiatrist, who may prescribe the use of anti-anxiety medications, antidepressants, and cognitive behavioral therapy. Because it is a problem that can be controlled but not cured, treatment can last for months or years. This assessment is always up to the specialized professional.
