Warner Bros. has released the first official trailer for the highly anticipated sci-fi epic sequel Dune: part 2which continues the story of Dune from 2021.
In the first film, Paul Atreides (Timothée Chalamet) has traveled to Arrakis, the sandiest and most dangerous planet in the universe, to secure the future of his family and his people, but things soon take a dark turn. Denis Villeneuve’s drama, based on the novel by Frank Herbert, was nominated for 10 Academy Awards and won six.
Later, Atreides teams up with Chani (Zendaya) and the Fremen to exact revenge on those who destroyed her family and must reconcile her love life with the fate of the universe at stake. The trailer shows Paul riding on the back of a huge sandworm in the deserts of Arrakis as Chani and the Fremen cheer for him.

Also featured are Austin Butler as Feyd Rautha Harkonnen, granddaughter of Stellan Skarsgard’s Baron Harkonnen, and Florence Pugh as Princess Irulen, daughter of Christopher Walken’s Emperor Shaddam IV. The trailer also teases an impending war, with Paul, now blue-eyed from the mystical drug Fremen, commanding a massive army.
“In the first movie, Paul Atreides is a student…we really see Paul Atreides becoming a leader here,” Chalamet said at CinemaCon last week, where Dune: part 2 was presented to the participants.
Dune: part 2 it also introduces newcomers Léa Seydoux as Lady Margot, a Bene Gesserit, Souheila Yacoub as a Fremen warrior, and Tim Blake Nelson.
Returning to the cast are Chalamet and Zendaya Rebecca Ferguson, Javier Bardem, Josh Brolin, Skarsgård, Dave Bautista, Charlotte Rampling and Stephen McKinley Henderson. Villeneuve directed the sequel and co-wrote it with Jon Spaihts.
Dune: part 2 arrives in Brazilian theaters on November 2.
