Thursday morning, 4, the Military Police arrested a 22-year-old man, suspected of threatening, assaulting and keeping his wife in a private prison, in the Cordillera Alta, Santa Catarina. Her arrest took place after the woman had asked for help from a city health facility.
According to the local website NA+, the woman told police the suspect had been “freaked out” since she told him she wanted to separate. She proceeded to threaten her, saying she would kill her and “burn down the house and destroy everything”. The man also attempted to attack him with a knife.
Also according to the report, she got into a physical fight with him and ended up with injuries to her arms and legs as he grabbed and squeezed her. The guy also did not let her go to work, keeping her in a private prison.
On Thursday, she managed to persuade him to go to the health center for treatment. At that moment, she took the opportunity to ask for help from the servers working in the health center.
The military police were called and the suspect was sent to the civil police service center in Chapecó. Terra has asked the Military and Civil Police for clarification on the case, but so far the request has not been answered.
