Former federal deputy David Miranda (PDT-RJ) died at the age of 37, one day before his birthday, after spending nine months in hospital intensive care unit (UTI) due to a generalized infection in the gastrointestinal system. The announcement was made on Tuesday 9 by her husband and journalist. Glen Greenwald, on a social network: “He died in peace, surrounded by our children, family and friends.” The cause of death has not yet been disclosed.

“David’s life was extraordinary in every respect. His mother died when he was 5, leaving him an orphan in Jacarezinho. But a beautiful and compassionate neighbor, Dona Eliane, took him in despite having 4 children and deep poverty, she became his mother , gave him a chance at life,” Glenn said.

David was admitted on August 6, 2022 to a hospital in Rio, with a generalized infection of the gastrointestinal system. At the time, the condition was considered serious.

In September 2022, David was a candidate for federal deputy for Rio de Janeiro, but as he was still hospitalized, he had to resign from the candidacy. The resignation was announced in his time by Glenn. “This is an extremely difficult decision. I said from the beginning of his hospitalization that the only person who should have made decisions about his candidacy was David. But unfortunately this is not our reality, this decision fell on me. I have consulted all the people close to David and the whole world agree that this is the only decision to make,” he said.
