Scarlett Johansson’s confession recalling one of the worst moments of her career when she lost a role against Sandra Bullock: “I felt hopeless”

Scarlett Johansson has confessed at length in a recent meeting with Varietyin which has analyzed some of the key moments of his long career in front of the Hollywood movie cameras. Between his legal battles against Disney over the premiere in streaming of ‘Black Widow’, and other notable points of his filmography, appeared one of the moments in which the actress acknowledged having felt “hopeless” with the path she was following.

“I wanted that role badly. It was a bit the straw that broke the camel’s back. I felt frustrated and hopeless” commented the actress. “Am I doing the right job? Everything that was offered to me seemed unsatisfactory. I think they offered me every single Marilyn Monroe script. She thought: Is this the creative end of my path?”

The reflection came when analyzing what has been his journey. Since her beginnings in professional acting at the age of 9, the actress has not stopped. After various youthful roles in films such as ‘The Horse Whisperer’, at just 17 years old, Sophia Coppola’s ‘Lost in Translation’ came to her and launched her to stardom. Shortly before ‘Gravity’ got out of hand, she had also been turned down for her mythical Marvel role, giving life to Natalia Romanoff in ‘Iron Man 2’. However, Emily Blunt, the actress who was to fill the position, eventually left the project and Johansson managed to enter the MCU.

“That film was not going to be decisive because of what I had written about my character, but there was potential for what it could become — the possibility of growing in future films,“said the actress.

From this moment on, things were on track. Other titles such as ‘Under the skin’ or ‘Her’ crossed his path, in which he would accompany Joaquin Phoenix, giving life to an extremely developed Artificial Intelligence (which today is not that far from becoming a reality).

“Suddenly I said, ‘I still love this job.’ I recovered my passion for the trade. I felt less anxious” admitted the actress in their conversation.

‘Marriage Story’ and ‘Jojo Rabbit’ would earn him two Oscar nominations in 2020.

Now, the actress is preparing to premiere her new film as the protagonist at the Cannes Film Festival: ‘Asteroid City’ by Wes Anderson.
