The film series “La Chute” (the original version of “The Fall”), starring Gerard Butler, will become a TV series. According to exclusive information DeadlineFilming of this ambitious project will begin in Paris and London on May 30.
Produced by StudioCanal, Urban Myth Films, Millennium Media and G-Base, the series, titled Paris Has Fallen, will be directed by Mathieu Kasowitz. Acclaimed Misfits creator Howard Overman will pen the script, and Oded Raskin (False Flag) will direct. The series will be broadcast in France on Canal+.
After the fall of the White House, the fall of London and the fall of the President, it is in Paris that the teams of this successful film saga will settle.
Set in Paris, Mathieu Kasowitz falls into the shoes of Vincent, an agent responsible for protecting a French minister who is targeted by a terrorist group led by Jacob. Vincent works with MI6 agent Zara to ensure the politician’s safety.
But they find themselves in the center of the plot much faster than they imagine. They suspect that their colleague from the Department of Security is feeding information to Jacob, who always manages to stay one step ahead of Paris’ downfall.
Gerard Butler, who played US Secret Service agent Mike Bunning in the films, has yet to be cast for this TV adaptation, but he could make a cameo. Contracts for other actors are coming to an end.
Mathieu Kasowitz is no stranger to spy shows. The French actor played the main character of the hit TV series Le Bureau des Legendes created by Eric Roshant.
Released in 2013, 2016 and 2019, “The Fall” franchise has grossed more than $500 million worldwide. In 2020, a fourth opus called Night Has Fallen was announced, which was to be directed by Rick Roman Waugh, who had already written The Fall of the President. But since then, the project seems to have been shelved by the studios.
