The Blacklist: Final Season Shortened Due to Writers’ Strike?

Should the writers’ strike on May 2 in the United States worry Blacklist fans, while the American channel NBC has so far only aired 12 of the 22 episodes announced on the counter for the tenth and last season?

For several days now, most series in production, from the 12th season of American Horror Story to the 5th season of Stranger Things, Good Trouble, Evil or Cobra Kai, have been suspended in Hollywood due to the decision of the Writers Guild of America. A strike with the AMPTP (Alliance of Film and Television Producers) following the collapse of an agreement to increase wages, working conditions and screenwriters’ employment rights.

According to American media and Hollywood industry specialists, this large-scale strike – the first since 2007-2008 – can last at least until the summer, or even longer. Filming may be delayed for the next seasons of network series (Grey’s Anatomy, 9-1-1 or Young Sheldon, for example), usually scheduled for the month of July.

The James Spader-hosted series The Blacklist doesn’t have to worry about a possible delay in the start of the 2023-2024 television season with its 10th season, which has been airing across the Atlantic since February 26, announced as its last. After more than 200 episodes and many behind-the-scenes changes (including the sudden departure of Liz’s translator Megan Boone in 2021), NBC and the production team have decided to end the adventures of Raymond “Red” Reddington.

But what about this final season? Will it be amputated by a few episodes?

The entire 10th season of The Blacklist has already been filmed

The good news is that The Blacklist’s tenth and final season wrapped filming on May 1 in New York City, as reported. NBC Insider.

All 22 of Season 10’s scripts were finished long before the writers’ strike, despite the relatively late date for this tenth batch last February.

Therefore, the broadcast of The Blacklist will end well, as planned, on July 13 in the United States with the last double episode, which should a priori answer all the unanswered questions. Starting with Red’s true identity, which many fans suspect is actually Katarina Rostova, Liz’s biological mother, who underwent surgery to change her face.

In France, season 9 has been available on Netflix for a few weeks now, where Blacklist continues to be a huge success. No release date has yet been announced for the French 10th season on the platform, which shouldn’t happen until the end of the year, or at least sometime in 2024. The case will follow.
