Supernatural spinoff The Winchesters won’t be returning for next season.
Famous for series such as Arrow, The Flash and The Vampire Diaries, The CW has just confirmed the cancellation of one of its latest productions: The Winchesters.
Officially, the Supernatural spinoff won’t be returning for a second season, in a practiced move that’s been common in Hollywood for the last few years – Netflix to say the least.
“As we reimagine the new CW, we’ve had to make some tough scheduling decisions,” the network said in a statement. “We are grateful to our partners at Warner Bros. and the cast and creative teams of Kung Fu [outra obra descontinuada] and The Winchesters for all their hard work, creativity and dedication.”
The pile-up took some fans online by surprise. On Rotten Tomatoes, the reference site in terms of film criticism, the consensus of the series was an impressive 100%. In all, The Winchesters ran for 13 episodes spread over one season, leading us to wonder what ratings issues might have sealed its fate.
The CW currently only has three shows on the air: DC dramas Superman & Lois and Gotham Knights; and the spin-off All American, All American: Homecoming. Second The Hollywood Reporter, the company will likely choose to stick with just one of DC’s shows. Superman & Lois has the larger audience of the two, but it’s also a lot more expensive. Gotham Knights, on the other hand, would be the least expensive comic book company audio-visual production the CW has ever shown.
