James Gunn Responds To Rumors About DC’s ‘Superman: Legacy’ Starring Emma Mackey And Nicholas Hoult

The also director of ‘Guardians of the Galaxy 3’ has made his position clear.

    James Gunn has replied to the new rumors that the announcement of casting for the next movie of Superman is near.

    An article published by ‘The Hollywood Reporter’ claimed that DC was beginning to look for the next Clark Kent, Lois Lane and Lex Luthor in ‘Superman: Legacy’the starting point of Gunn and Peter Safran’s new DC universe.

    Gunnwho is currently promoting ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’, the new Marvel movie, has expressed his opinion about this fact and has claimed that only one role for ‘Superman: Legacy’ has closed: “For all those asking, I would never comment on who is or is not auditioning for a role.“, he wrote on Twitter.

    “That’s just the actors’ business and it’s not something I would go public with unless they did it first (like @GlennHowerton or @ZacharyLevi auditioning for Star-Lord and being the top choice).” So far, only one person has been CHECKED on ‘Superman: Legacy’, and it’s not any of the usual actors from the world of Superman.”

    The report claims that the current favorite for the role of the hero is David Corenswetand Tom Brittney and Andrew Richardson are some of the British names being considered for the role. Emma Mackey, the star of ‘Sex Education’, one of Netflix’s best original series, is reportedly a top contender for the role of journalist Lois, while Nicholas Hoult is one of the favorites to play the villain Lex.

    Gunn recently reported on ‘Superman: Legacy’stating that the film it will start shooting in january. Earlier, he snapped a photo of the finished script for the project, revealing that the film was in pre-production last month.

    “I’m honored to be a part of the legacy. And what better day than #SupermanAnniversaryDay to dive right into the early pre-production of #SupermanLegacy. Costumes, production design and much more already underway,” he wrote.
