“The actors begged me”: The cruel method of the director of ‘Fast X’ to decide who dies and who lives in the final stretch of the saga of ‘Fast and Furious’

There are only a few days left until the premiere of ‘Fast X’ (‘Fast and Furious 10’) and there are already some major spoilers circulating on the Internet. Don’t worry, I’m not going to spoil any surprises for you. (mostly because I don’t know them either), but with the beginning of the end of the road so close, it’s time to talk about the paths that the franchise will take in these last chapters.

‘Fast and Furious 10’ will be the first film in a trilogy that will put an end to the Toretto family saga and, in an interview with Collider, director Louis Leterrier explained that it’s inevitable that some characters won’t make it to the end of the raceespecially with a new villain as ruthless as Dante (Jason Momoa), who promises to be a great threat to Dom Toretto (Vin Diesel) and his ilk.

With Leterrier arriving “a little late” to production after the franchise’s most prolific director, Justin Lin, abruptly left the project, the script was already finished and filming was already underway. However, the filmmaker had access to future scripts in order to make decisions based on what will happen in the next deliveries. And of course, many of the interpreters feared for the fate of their characters:

“The actors had to write letters begging me to keep their characters alive, and I found them worthy.“No, seriously and spoiler-free, obviously, some things were written into the script and then other things… Let’s just say, you know, I went deeper than this movie, looked beyond it and said, ‘Oh , I know what I want’. AND there were some tough and tough actions and decisions i had to make because I knew what was coming in the next movie.”

The new installment will connect directly with ‘Fast and Furious 5’, revealing that The robbery of the safe in Rio by Dom and Brian (Paul Walker) spawned a new enemy who has been plotting his revenge for years.. On top of that, old friends and foes from the franchise will also return to help (or hinder) Dom’s journey.

To the usual stars of the ‘Fast and Furious’ saga such as Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Jordana Brewster, Tyrese Gibson, Ludacris, Sun Kang and Nathalie Emmanuel will be joined by faces that have recently joined the family such as Jason Statham, Helen Mirren, Scott Eastwood, Charlize Theron and John Cena and new faces like Brie Larson, Jason Momoa and Rita Morenoin addition to the daughter of Paul Walker (Meadow Walker) in an emotional cameo.
