Two of television’s most popular performers will star in the film alongside Dustin Hoffman and Gabrielle Union.
Two of the most popular performers in Hollywood, Jennifer Coolidge (‘The White Lotus’) and Brian Cox (‘Succession’)are about to join Dustin Hoffman and Gabrielle Union for the detective comedy’Riff Raff‘.
The all-star cast will star in a project that revolves around the daily life of an ex-criminal, whose world is turned upside down when his old family shows up for a long-awaited reckoning. Dito Montiel directs from a script by John Pollono.
With cameras ready to roll in September, ‘Riff Raff’ will try to raise funding in the Cannes Film Festival market this week by selling its international rights. Noah Rothman produces through Canopy Partners, with Marc Goldberg and Sarah Gabriel producing through Signature Films.
“We are delighted to partner with Dito on this project; We have loved it ever since we read it. It embodies the kind of crime cop comedies we grew up on: witty and entertaining.. Not to mention the perfect cast that will bring these colorful characters to life.” Goldberg said.
But of course, what “crippling comedies we grew up with” is the producer referring to? ‘Crazy Police Academy’? ‘fargo’? ‘Grab it any way you can’? ‘Super detective in Hollywood’? ‘Paco’s men’? It’s unknown, but Wow, a commissioner played by Brian Cox wouldn’t be cool...

Coolidge and Cox are both Emmy and Golden Globe winners.while Hoffman has won a pair of Oscars for best leading actor for his work in the films ‘Kramer vs. Kramer’ from 1980 and ‘Rain Man’ from 1989. So it won’t be for awards.
