The playmaker is the flagship of Palmeiras this year and would cost 80 million reais to the coffers of the Catalan club, which suffers from financial constraints

Highlight of Palmeiras in 2023 and “brain” of the team of Abel Ferreira, Raphael Veiga arouses the interest of several clubs around the world. One of them is the barcelona which could have in the player a solution to strengthen his squad in the midst of the limitations of the Right play financial.

According to the Catalan newspaper Sport, Veiga would make up for the team’s technical shortcomings at low cost. Valued at 15 million euros (R$80 million), he is seen as an athlete who, at the age of 27, has not yet reached his physical fullness and could develop in Spain.

In the middle of the year, the club will fire veteran and idol Sergio Busquets and will look for alternatives to rehire Messi. Amidst this financial movement, Veiga would be one of the players considered to reinforce Barcelona from next season, at low cost.



The publication points out that the attacking midfielder had his name speculated in the call-ups of the Brazilian national team. “During Tite’s tenure as Brazil coach, the press clamored for him to be called up, however. He made his late debut for the ‘Canarinha’ in March and, on the FIFA date in June, he will be in the two friendlies that the CBF is preparing,” the report quotes.

In March, clubs in Spain and Italy even consulted Veiga and Palmeiras about a possible mid-season move. In a press conference for the Brazilian national team, he said he wanted to play in Spain or England after leaving Brazil.

Veiga joined Palmeiras in 2017 after a year as a professional at Coritiba. Without space, he was loaned to Athletico-PR for a season, before returning to the Alviverde team and conquering his space as one of the protagonists of the squad and of the country.

For Palmeiras, Veiga won three Paulista Championships, two Libertadores, one Copa do Brasil, one Recopa Sudamericana, one Campeonato Brasileiro and one Supercopa do Brasil. In 2023 he played 20 games for Palmeiras, with ten goals and six assists.
