The new film by Martin Scorsese and Leonardo DiCaprio gets the first teaser

Apple TV+ has released the first teaser of “Killers of the Flower Moon”, the new film directed by Martin Scorsese and starring Leonardo DiCaprio (both of “The Wolf of Wall Street”), which will have its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival . Featuring DiCaprio’s narration, the preview highlights the visual sophistication of the production, which comes to resemble paintings by recreating scenes from the early 20th century, as well as highlighting Robert De Niro’s (“The Irishman”) role as a villain and showing a procession of stars.

The film is an adaptation of the book of the same name by David Grann (author of “Z: The Lost City”), which analyzes the murders committed during the 1920s oil boom in the Oklahoma region. The work was released in Brazil under the title “Assassinos da Lua das Flores”. The rights to the book were acquired for $5 million in 2016 by Scorsese and DiCaprio, and the screenplay was written by veteran Eric Roth (Oscar winner for “Forrest Gump”).

The plot revolves around the massacre of the Osage Nation, an American Indian tribe, during the 1920s. Considered “one of the most shocking crimes in American history”, the deaths of almost all members of the tribe occurred shortly after the discovery of oil their lands. The case sparked one of the first major investigations in the history of the FBI, which was founded in 1908.

“Killers of the Flower Moon” is the sixth collaboration between the director and DiCaprio, after “Gangs of New York” (2002), “The Aviator” (2004), “The Departed (2006), “Shutter Island” (2010) and “The Wolf of Wall Street” (2013), but it is the first time that DiCaprio appears with De Niro in a film by the director – which sees the two actors as the greatest partners of his career.

In addition to the famous duo, production also includes Lily Gladstone (“Billions”), Jesse Plemons (“Attack of the Dogs”), Brendan Fraser (“The Whale”), John Lithgow (“The Crown”), Tantoo Cardinal (” Stumptown”), Pat Healy (“Station 19”), Louis Cancelmi (“Billions”), Gary Basaraba (“Suburbicon”), Tatanka Means (“The Son”), Scott Shepherd (“X-Men: Dark Phoenix” ” ), Cara Jade Myers (“Rutherford Falls”) and musicians Sturgill Simpson (“The Hunt”) and Jason Isbell (“Squidbillies”).

The film will hit theaters in October, ahead of its streaming release.
