They played Lara Jean and Peter in the rom-com trilogy, but there’s a good reason for their absence in the series that just launched on the platform.
Good news for fans of Jenny Han’s To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before, who enjoyed the teen romantic comedy trilogy based on the author’s story like never before: Love, Kitty, the long-awaited series spin off of the saga starring Lana Condor and Noah Centineo, which snatched the best smiles between 2018 and 2021, is now a reality on Netflix. The complete 10-episode first season is now available to its subscribers.
Starring a face we know all too well, Anna Cathcart as Lara Jean’s younger sister, the long-awaited new series focuses on Kitty Covey, who leaves her past to star in a new love story that, if remains the essence of the three films that preceded it, promises to be full of sympathy and sweetness.
Now Kitty Covey is older and is facing an important stage in her life: she received a scholarship and will travel to Korea to attend the same high school where her late mother studied and of which she wrote many stories in her letters. Kitty loves to read. There, she Kitty will meet her longtime boyfriend, but she will discover that things are not as simple as they seemed when they were thousands of miles apart.
In addition to Anna Cathcart, who reprises her role as Kitty, several new faces star in the Netflix series, but there is no trace of the main characters of the trilogy that made its existence possible.
Why don’t Lana Condor and Noah Centineo return as Lara Jean Covey and Peter Kavinski?
Well, as much as we miss them, the news comes as no surprise, since the creator of the series herself, author Jenny Han, predicted in an interview with Netflix’s TUDUM, in which she stated that the duo’s absence titular was especially important to Kitty’s story to gain its own space:
We all fell deeply in love with Lara Jean and her story. So I thought the best gift we could give Kitty was to let her, as a character, stand on her own and not put her in the shadow of any of her sisters.
The author also wanted to remind us that the two actors who played Lara and Peter were absolutely committed to their professional careers, which had just begun when To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before entered their lives like a hurricane and filled them of opportunities. : “Lana and Noah are doing great things. The entire To All Boys family couldn’t be more proud of them and excited for everything to come.”.
But who accompanied with love, Kitty; already noted that the couple Lara Jean and Peter are mentioned in the story and the courtship is still firm and strong. However, if you’re missing them, look no further: To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before (2018) and its sequels for PS. I Still Love You (2020) and For Now and Forever (2021) are available on Netflix.
