‘John Wick 4’ could continue in a spin-off borrowing Quentin Tarantino’s idea for ‘Kill Bill 3’

The Keanu Reeves saga will expand with the series ‘The Continental’ and the spin-off ‘Ballerina’, but this is only the beginning…

    — SPOILERS for ‘John Wick 4’ —

If you have already seen ‘John Wick 4’ and enjoyed its almost 3 hours of pure and hard action cinema As we rarely see in movie theaters anymore, surely you noticed the inspiration for the scene that closes the film: the post-credits scene of ‘John Wick 4’ picks up the basic concept of Quentin Tarantino’s plan for ‘Kill Bill: Vol. 3’.

Reviewing the plot of ‘John Wick 4’, we remember that John (Keanu Reeves) is determined to finally free himself from the clutches of the High Table, while the Marquis de Gramont (Bill SkarsgĂ„rd) is equally determined to eliminate John. That eventually leads to an old friend of John’s, Caine (Donnie Yen), is forced to kill him to save the life of his family, facing off in a duel worthy of the best Westerns of the Wild West..

But earlier, during the battle on the Osaka Mainland, Caine kills another of John’s colleagues, Shimazu Koji.. He does so in a sword fight knowing that the lives of his loved ones are at stake and begging him to step aside and allow him to get to John, but Shimazu’s honor ends up being unshakable. Akira (Rina Sawayama), helplessly witnesses the death of his father and all he can do is look with vengeful fury at the murderer, who recognizes his rage and says “I will be waiting”. Is a scene very similar to the fight between the Bride (Uma Thurman) and Vernita Green (Vivica A. Fox) in Quentin Tarantino’s ‘Kill Bill vol. 1’which ends with Vernita’s daughter witnessing her mother’s death and with the Bride promising that they would meet again in the future: “When you grow up, if you still feel bad about this, I’ll be waiting for you.

In the final duel with Caine, a dying John contrives to get the marquess to finish off with a shot between the eyebrows and, after making his peace with Caine, John dies (or so it seems, with the ‘John Wick’ saga you can never be sure) and ends up being buried next to his late wife Helen. However, Caine’s story isn’t over, with Akira preparing to exact revenge for having murdered his father at the beginning of the film.

‘John Wick: Chapter 4’ sets that story in motion with its final credits scene, leaving open the possibility of developing a spin-off that delves into Caine’s past and Akira’s quest for revenge. A story I would borrow Quentin Tarantino’s idea for ‘Kill Bill vol. 3 ‘, which he has always declared would be the return of her Nikki, Vernita’s daughter, to confront her mother’s murderer.

‘Kill Bill Vol. 3’ seems further and further away from being made, since Tarantino’s next film, ‘The Movie Critic’, seems to be his last. However, a character named Akira, an expert in katanas and eager for revenge for the death of her father it would seem to us the closest thing to what we expected from the Tennessee filmmaker.

This serious the third spin off Confirmed from the franchise after the series ‘The Continental’ and the Ana de Armas film ‘Ballerina’.
