The original film is a comedy with touches of horror and fantasy released in 1988. It was directed by Tim Burton, a famous director who also worked on the “Wandinha” series. The film was produced by the Geffen Company and distributed by Warner Bros.

In the year of its release, the production was a hit with audiences and critics, grossing more than $73 million in the United States at the time.

“Beetlejuice” got an animated series released in 1989, which was also very well received. Additionally, video games based on the film have been released.

Several attempts to produce a sequel to the film have surfaced over the past three decades, but creative issues, scheduling conflicts, and a lack of deal led to the project being shelved in April 2019.

The sequel was announced in February 2022 by Brad Pitt’s Plan B Entertainment and is expected to release in September 2024.

About the movie

A recently deceased young couple try to evict an eccentric family from their beloved home in which they are trapped. Facing failure to expel the new residents as ghosts from a haunted house, the desperate couple enlist the help of Beetlejuice, an eccentric and utterly insane bio-exorcist, to scare away the intruders.

However, when Beetlejuice takes over, things quickly spiral out of control as the living and the dead engage in a supernatural battle for ownership of the house.

Starring Michael Keaton, Alec Baldwin, Geena Davis and Winona Ryder, this film was director Tim Burton’s first major blockbuster.
