Corinthians complete this Friday a month without winning an official match, adding all competitions. The last time Timão triumphed this season was against Remo, in the second leg of the third stage of the Copa do Brasil.
At the time, on 26 April, Corinthians beat Remo 2-0, with goals from Adson and Róger Guedes. In the maximum penalties, Alvinegro triumphed 5-4, with an important save by Cássio and a final penalty converted by Guedes.
Since then, Corinthians have played eight matches, with three draws and five defeats. Timão is in 18th place in the Brazilian championship with five points and is in third place in group E of the Copa Liberadores, with three points. In the Copa do Brasil, the team lost the first leg of the round of 16 against Atlético-MG 2-0, in Mineirão.
This is Corinthians’ longest winless streak since October 2019, when the team also reached eight games without a match. At the time, coach Fábio Carille couldn’t stand the pressure and ended up being fired due to poor results.
Now, Corinthians will face Fluminense next Sunday, for the eighth round of the Brazilian championship. The match will be played at 16:00 (Brasilia time), at the Neo Química Arena. Subsequently, Timão will receive Atlético-MG on Wednesday, for the round of 16 of the Copa do Brasil.
