The Karlovy Vary Film Festival revealed the lineup for the 56th edition on Tuesday, which features 33 films, including 27 world premieres, screened in three sections.
The program of the Czech festival, organized by artistic director Karel Och, includes a special screening of the drama. June zerowhich explores the true story of Adolf Eichmann -one of the main architects of the Holocaust in Israel- through the execution of three characters in 1962. Film, directed by Jake Peltrow (youth, Palm), filmed in Israel and Ukraine.
The festival runs from July 1 to 9 and includes a Crystal Globes competition, a special screening session and a new competition called Next that features young filmmakers and auteur films who oppose categorization.
“Out of 1,500 films submitted this year, we selected 33 new films that accurately reflect our tastes,” said Och. “A taste that is born of the belief in the protection of new means of intellectual surprise and cinematographic expression, which, however, do not contradict the acceptance and inclinations of the spectator.”
