While the Star Wars saga is often presented as the story of the Skywalker family, this observation also applies to Evan McGregor’s observation. The nephew of Dennis Lawson (translator of the Wedge Antilles pilot in the original trilogy), the Scottish comedian gave the answer to his daughter Esther McGregor in the second episode of the Obi-Wan Kenob series!
The latter appears on stage as Kenobi travels in the footsteps of Princess Leia’s abducted body on the orders of Inquisitor Reva. In search of evidence, Jedi decides to question the locals and especially the young drug dealer (see below). Revealed that he himself had been kidnapped as a child, his replica “I was someone’s daughter too” Gains symbolic significance because of the connections that unite the two actors.
This scene also honors the film Attack of the Clones (Episode II); Kenobi, who was installed in the bar of the planet Coruscant, refused the dealer who offered him a blue or red pill. This sequence was created at the time by George Lucas as a tribute to the Matrix, and the dealer interpretation was also performed by Matt Doran, best known for his role as a mouse in Wachowski’s film.
Episodes of the Star Wars Obi-Wan Kenob series can be viewed every Wednesday exclusively on Disney +.
