Amazon Prime Video has released the poster and trailer for the fourth and final season of “Jack Ryan,” an action series based on the Tom Clancy literary franchise, starring John Krasinski (“A Quiet Place”).
In the story, Jack Ryan is tasked with exposing the CIA’s corruption as the agency’s new acting Deputy Director. And in doing so, he uncovers a series of suspicious operations that expose a drug cartel’s convergence with a terrorist organization.
The action-packed preview features glimpses of the traditional cast, which includes Wendell Pierce (“The Wire”), Michael Kelly (“House of Cards”), Betty Gabriel (“Get Out!”) and Abbie Cornish (“A Secret Between Girlfriends”) , but also reveals new faces, including Louis Ozawa (“Hunters”) and especially Michael Peña (“Ant-Man”), as an unusual ally in the South American drug world.
The attraction’s full title is “Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan,” but ironically the series is not a literal adaptation of the Tom Clancy books, as the character’s first films were in the 1990s. Carlton Cuse (“Lost” series, “Bates Motel”), in collaboration with ex-marine Graham Roland (writer of “Lost” and “Fringe” series).
The production is by Platinum Dunes, the company of Michael Bay (the director of “Transformers”), and the realization of the last six episodes is entrusted to Vaun Wilmott (creator of “Dominion”).
Season 4 debuts on June 30, with two chapters released per week.
