After censoring lesbians, Globo hides the LGBT+ special in the late night grill

After censoring several homoaffective scenes, TV Globo has chosen to hide the special “Falas de Pride” in the morning schedule. The decision comes amid an escalation of conservatism by the broadcaster, which appears to be “scared” of LGBTQIAP+ diversity.

Earlier this year, Globo reported that the special would be shown after the nine o’clock soap opera, just as happened two years ago, when the project received numerous accolades and scored 16.9 rating points in the Great St. Paul.

However, the broadcaster has chosen to screen the documentary after the “Hot Screen”, around midnight, as the film session will be a little shorter than usual. It should be noted that at 11.30 pm other specials of the “Falas” project were screened.

The time change is seen as significant by audiences, who criticized Globo for cutting out same-sex romance scenes in its productions. Many have pointed out the hypocrisy of the network doing a diversity special when it’s increasingly clear that the network doesn’t care about Pride Month.

The documentary is full of exciting stories about diversity and acceptance, but the edition should focus its story on a Sapphic couple, Lena (Ana Flávia Cavalcanti) and Kátia (Kika Sena). In the storyline, Lena is a cisgender woman who decides to live with her transgender wife in a house she inherited. They will have a hard time adjusting to the neighborhood.

“Falas de Pride” will air on June 26th.
