Healthcare professionals and self-management plans, which have invested in primary healthcare and prevention, have managed to achieve good economic results in 2022. 43% of hospital and medical workers closed the year with an accumulated operating loss of R$ 11.5 billion, the benefit administrators segment earned R$ 555.57 million and was the only one that recorded a useful in the industry.




But what caused this crisis among traditional health plans? Analyzing the sector as a whole, it is possible to verify that the operators who continue to operate in the traditional way, with off-the-shelf services, in which the user chooses what he has and what he should not do, are no longer at the service of the shareholders , and this as a result of the loss ratio which increased significantly.

When evaluating the performance of companies that have invested in primary healthcare and prevention, it is possible to verify that they have managed to achieve good results. It closed the year 2021 with 4,966 lives, 2022 with 13,331 lives and at the beginning of 2023 it has 15,000 lives. These units are intended to avoid adverse events in Emergency Departments, where operators lose control of the user, who is susceptible to what emergencies will do, as well as the behaviors that accredited network hospital units will adopt.

In these cases, the service to users is like a blank check that the operator deposits in the hospital ward, losing control of the structure to insure the costs of the accident. The purpose of these units is to work without waste, to provide fair and correct care for the health of the beneficiary, bringing more productivity to the system.
